Vijay Singh closes door on majors streak

Vijay Singh's streak of playing every major championship for 17 years is about to end. He withdrew from this week's FedEx St. Jude Classic and failed to show up for his tee time at a U.S. Open qualifier on Monday.
He would have needed to win or finish second at the St. Jude.
Singh has played 67 consecutive majors, the longest active streak in golf. He played on a special exemption to the 2010 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach but USGA executive director Mike Davis has said no special exemptions are likely this year.
